Fog at Larnaca Airport is currently preventing several aircraft from landing.

As a result, some flights have been diverted to Paphos Airport: W67905 from Kutaisi (Wizz Air) and LY5131 from Tel Aviv (El Al). W43481 from Cluj-Napoca (Wizz Air), which circled over Larnaca for a long time before diverting.

A FlyOne flight from Chișinău made several holding loops near Larnaca before finally proceeding to the airport.

The return flights of these airlines are currently delayed. Check your flight status on the airport’s departure board.

The European Union has agreed on a major overhaul of air passenger rights - the most comprehensive reform in the past 12 years. The updated rules address flight delays and cancellations, refund conditions, and baggage handling.

Some of the most important updates include:

🔁 Rebooking and alternative routes:
Passengers now have the right to an alternative route, including rebooking with another airline or even using other forms of transport. If the airline fails to offer a suitable alternative within 3 hours of a cancellation or delay, passengers may book their own travel and claim reimbursement of up to 400% of the original ticket price.

💶 Compensation for delays and cancellations:
The amount of compensation depends on flight distance and delay duration:
- For intra-EU flights up to 3,500 km delayed by over 4 hours – €300.
- For flights over 3,500 km delayed by 6+ hours – €500.
Passengers will also be entitled to compensation if a flight is cancelled less than 14 days before departure.

📝 Easier complaints process & response deadlines:
Passengers will have up to 6 months to submit a complaint. Airlines will be required to respond within 14 days, either issuing compensation or giving a justified refusal. In cases of extraordinary circumstances, carriers must clearly state what occurred.

Full details of the new regulations can be found here.

Ongoing military conflict and the closure of Israeli airspace have forced several airlines to cancel flights to the country.

As of now, flights to Tel Aviv have been cancelled by Wizz Air, Arkia, TUS Air, Cyprus Airways, and Israir, while Air Haifa has suspended its flights to Haifa.

Despite this, some airlines are still selling tickets to Israel for the coming days. For instance, Wizz Air and Cyprus Airways continue to offer flights to Tel Aviv as early as tomorrow, 14 June.

TUS Air has suspended ticket sales to Israel until 21 June, and Ryanair has halted sales for the Paphos–Tel Aviv route until 1 September.

Passengers departing from Larnaca may have noticed a Gulf Air flight to Moscow listed on the airport’s departure board. However, this isn’t actually a standard direct flight.

In reality, it’s a Bahrain–Moscow flight with a technical stop in Larnaca, lasting around 40 minutes. During the stop, passengers remain onboard - no disembarkation or boarding takes place.

If you’ve booked a Moscow–Cyprus ticket with Gulf Air, here’s what your route looks like:
1. Moscow - Larnaca
2. Technical stop
3. Larnaca - Bahrain
4. Several hours’ layover in Bahrain
5. Bahrain - Larnaca

This unusual routing is due to the current geopolitical situation and the closure of Iranian and Iraqi airspace. Normally, Gulf Air flights from Bahrain to Moscow pass through these regions, but the airline is now using alternative routes for operational reasons.
