روى الشيخان في الصحيحين، من حديث كعب بن عجرة رضي الله عنه أنه قال للصحابة: ألا أهديكم هدية؟، قالوا: بلى، قال: خرج عليهم رسول الله ﷺ قال: قولوا:
"اللهم صل على محمد وعلى آل محمد، كما صليت على إبراهيم، وعلى آل إبراهيم، إنك حميد مجيد، اللهم بارك على محمد، وعلى آل محمد كما باركت على إبراهيم، وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد".
