Got my P14s Gen 5 Intel version
Hi, got my upgrade from T470. Haven't pushed hard yet, so not ready yet to share my impressions about performance. Seems that Davinci Resolve works ok, graphics acceleration seems to work, 4k preview with several effects works smoothly.
Nice thing, that it is not as bulky as I expected, screen is much better than I had on my T470 (in P14s I've got 4k), did some photo editing, it looks as good as my desktop monitor (Dell ultrasharp).
Keyboard does not feel as good as T470, although I'm not a keyboard freak, so I did not expected to feel any difference, but new one has plastic feeling, my be out is just different and still need to get used to it.
When fans are working is it's way lauder machine than T470 was, I've tried to enable high performance mode and it made fan to spin constantly and that was laud, so switched back to balanced mode for now.
I've missed SD card reader several times, and have no idea why it was removed - it's probably a $5 addition to cost and seems that there is some space for it too.
IR camera login send like a nice addition after T470, works well enough even in quite dark room.
I liked T470 chassis material better, even if it was hard to clean and my dog was able to scratch it easily, the current one on P15s is fingerprint magnet. As long as daughter has E14 with similar cover material, I think it will scratch as easy as E14.
Biggest problem so far - can't find a way to run it on power delivery from Dell monitor. T470 was running on it without a problem. As far as I understand, Dell monitor is not delivering enough watts (according to specs it can deliver up to 90w, should be more than enough for light workloads), hence is ignored - anyone knows if that can be solved?
If anyone has any questions regarding machine, give me know.
