The Special Focus of the report is on recent poverty and inequality trends in Iran. We find that these have improved in recent years, in part thanks to inclusive growth and supplemental cash transfers. For example, between 2020/21 and 2022/23, poverty rates decreased by 7.4 percentage points, lifting 6.1 million Iranians out of poverty.
