ساختار تضادی:

👨‍🏫 برای بیان تضاد بین دو مورد، while/whereas/where همراه با کاما بکار می‌روند. برای استفاده از سه کلمه‌ی ذکر شده دو روش وجود دارد:

1️⃣ Independent Clause, while/where/whereas + clause

2️⃣ While/Where/Whereas + clause, Independent Clause
معنی: درحالی‌که (به معنی تضاد با مورد قبلی یا بعدی است)

• While Tom's very good at science, his brother is absolutely hopeless.
درحالیکه تام در علوم بسیار خوب است، برادرش کاملاً افتضاح است.
• Walnut is a hard wood, while pine is soft.
گردو یک چوب سخت است، درحالی‌که [چوب] کاج نرم است.

• The old system was fairly complicated, whereas the new system is really simple.
سیستم قدیمی نسبتاً پیچیده بود، درحالی‌که سیستم جدید واقعاً ساده است.
• Whereas the population of working age increased by 1 million between 1981 and 1986, today it is barely growing.

• Sometimes a teacher will be listened to, where a parent might not.
گاهی اوقات به معلم گوش داده می‌شود، درحالی‌که به والدین نه.
• Where some people learned to play the accordion for dances in their community, others took music lessons...
