Watch out, that’s art!

Friends, do you always notice modern art works? Are you always able to distinguish a mountain of garbage from the installation of a famous artist?

For example, did you know that Courtney Love's favorite art object was simply thrown away by the workers when she moved?

Dead bird from the artist Polly Morgan, estimated at $8,000, turned out to be literally in the trash.

And during the installation of When It Starts Dripping From the Ceiling (Wen's anfängt durch die Decke zu tropfen) from Martin Kippenberger, the cleaner saw a "dirty spot".

And she cleaned up “the mess” of the installation which price is 800,000.

Recently, at a VIP event in Miami, a blue sculpture, Balloon Dog, from a famous series of Koons was damaged. An unnamed collector knocked on the art object to check what material the Dog was made of. The sculpture fell to the floor and broke into pieces.

The price of the work was $42,000.

The famous banana artwork Comedian Maurizio Cattelan was eaten by a museum visitor in Seoul. The work exists-or rather, it existed - in triplicate.

The Comedian cost $120,000...

It's not about the price, sure. But in the value of modern art, reflecting the whole palette of human feelings, emotions and aspirations.

Gorgeous ancient Roman and ancient Greek statues, made with anatomical precision of white marble were created... colored 😳

However, under the influence of wind, water, sun and time, the creations painted with bright colors acquired their current appearance.

Rencontres d'Arles

Every summer since 1970, Arles has hosted an exhibition of contemporary photography.

This festival is a real springboard for young artists, and numerous famous photographers exhibited their works in Arles.

Yearly, multiple historical buildings, and corners of the city center, as well as its outskirts, turn into a huge endless gallery! 🖼

Visiting Rencontres d'Arles is a genuine explosive cocktail of ideas, and inspiration for any artist.

We have studied it inside and out. And we are sharing a small part of it ;)

He failed the entrance exams to the Paris School of Fine Arts thrice. This is particularly unfortunate as the requirements for applicants at that time were not so high 😢

However, the lack of classical education did not prevent François Auguste René Rodin from creating the Thinker - one of the most recognized sculptural works.

Johnny Depp (John Christopher "Johnny" Depp II) is not only a terrific actor, but also a commercially successful portraitist 👨🏻🎨

In just 5 days, when selling the Friends and Heroes collection earlier this year, he earned $5,400,000!

At the dawn of his career, Picasso (Pablo Ruiz Picasso) was so poor that he heated the stove in the rented room with his paintings ... ☹️

The Green Snake 🥃

Rumor has it that absinthe was not only portrayed by Vincent van Gogh (Vincent Willem van Gogh), and Edgar Degas, but also enjoyed being consumed by them, inside.

And the very appearance of French Impressionism, and Expressionism, as some believe, is firmly connected with the strong drink.

Safety Measures vs Art

Based on the footage from the filming of the new project, it is not difficult to guess what is a priority for us 💛

Insight of the day: an artist should not be hungry, an artist should be risky 😅

Rubens (Pieter Paul Rubens) is one of the most prolific "old masters".

It is believed that about 3,000 canvases have reached us, some of which were created by the artist, together with his students.

Of these 1,403 works were written by the master alone.

Mrs. Toolip Art Gallery

It is in this gallery in Barcelona that an exhibition of finalists of a large-scale art competition is being held. In which Metamorphoses by Concept2048 took part.

After examining all the variety of art blindly, (neither names, nor regalia, nor any other data about the artists were provided to the judges), the jury voted. And out of 400 participants, representing 55 countries, only 30 finalists were selected.

The grand opening of the finalists' exhibition took place on November 16. To be honest, it was exciting to attend such an event, where collectors, the press, art professionals, jury members, and the artists themselves were invited 😇

The exhibition will be open until December 16, and you can not only enjoy the artworks in it, but also acquire anything you like.

We invite all connoisseurs! If you are in Barcelona, be sure to visit - believe us, it's worth it😏

Only one of Michelangelo's sculptures (Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni) - the Pieta, in St. Peter's Cathedral, Vatican - is signed by the master.

Ironically, the reason for this is one of the mortal sins - pride. Having learned that the authorship is attributed to another, the great sculptor carved his name on the work. Something he later regretted 😢

The body as an installation,
life as art

Orlan - born Mireille Suzanne Francette Port - perhaps one of the world’s most sincere, and truly vibrant, contemporary artists.

Sculpture, photography, performance, augmented reality - her involvement in art is simply limitless. Even her own body became her canvas, and 9 plastic surgeries became loud performances.

"I am afraid of racism, discrimination; I am afraid for women who break their legs and spine by wearing heels every day to conform to the stereotypes that have been imposed on them. I am afraid of women who believe that life won't be interesting if they can't start a big family. I am afraid that religion will influence us again, and will interfere with our lives."

Most recently, we attended the opening of the exhibition of this brave artist, who breaks the rules and limits (see the video). The exhibition is a kind of summing up of interim results, and it presents the most daring Orlan projects, including early provocative creations.

Some of the works are based on pieces by Picasso. Weeping women, his muses, without whom the maestro could never happen, but whom he appreciated so little.
This part of the exhibition is a kind of message from Orlan to all suffering, shadowed women.

"I invite you to stop being objects, and become real subjects," she said at the opening of the exhibition.

The artist does not judge Picasso, but admires his skill.
And we highly recommend that you visit Orlan's website, and learn more about her amazing, bold, and controversial work.

"When i get to heaven, i mean to spend a considerable portion of my first million years in painting."

This phrase belongs to Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, who was not only the Prime Minister of Great Britain, but also a Nobel laureate in literature. Churchill is also known as a gifted artist who has painted more than 500 artworks.

Truly, gifted people are gifted in everything! 💯

The painting "Number 5, 1948" by Jackson Pollock, (Paul Jackson Pollock) was sold for $140,000,000 in 2006.

Envious people, who have no idea about his work, and that even a special formula for Pollock's trajectory has been derived, consisting of three main variables, say that the artist did not suffer much from the torments of creativity - he simply poured paint over a piece of fibrolite.

Would you invest, if you had the opportunity, in a painting by this artist, or join the haters camp?

Scandal in a noble family

One of the largest museums in the world, the British Museum, has discovered the loss of more than 1,000 exhibits!

Another part of the valuable items was damaged: some lack gold frames, others lack precious stones.

How could this happen?
Some experts believe that there was no elementary order in the museum - the exhibits simply were not catalogued. Which was used by a certain dishonest employee of the British Museum.

And the worst thing is that presumably some of the artifacts (including, for example, those from the Roman Empire) were simply sold for nothing, like scrap precious metals, and were remelted 😢

How greedy and unscrupulous do you have to be to do this? Do you think, friends, that something can justify the destruction of cultural heritage?

The portrait of an unidentified Florentine woman by Raffaello Santi keeps a curious secret. Examining the painting "The Lady and the Unicorn,” experts have established that a mythical beast used to be... an ordinary dog 🐩

Whether Raffaello himself turned the dog into a unicorn is not known for certain 😇
