A week earlier, we mentioned that the Vatican has located its exhibition pavilion in the women's prison, a former monastery of the XXIII century,  on the island of Giudecca.

We just didn’t mention that this prison is functioning (therefore, to visit the Vatican pavilion, you must register in advance). Here is its mention on the official police website: Casa di Reclusione Femminile Giudecca

Can you imagine?

It holds 80 prisoners, and the path to the Vatican Pavilion flows through the cells. The audience is accompanied by prison guards, it is forbidden to communicate with prisoners or to take pictures.

An exception was made for only one guest - the Pope spoke with the women held there.
