Last Update:
Friends, we continue our series of posts describing, in great detail, the creation of our Metamorphoses collection.
We have finished talking about the preparations for filming, and we are moving from preparations directly to...
Shooting day
The whole team gathers at the site and tries to tune in to each other. The atmosphere and our sense of community is everything. We literally have to be a single organism... to perform and think in unison. Only then can we achieve perfect results.
Further, for the technical part of the team, the equipment and lighting setup begins. And as for the creative team, they start gathering and assembling the numerous adornments. At this juncture, it is important for us to make sure, once again, that the turban, accessories, and garments play correctly in the frame: that they are in harmony with the model; that the very magic of the whole image is born.
And then the action begins - the shooting. Everything is shot on a classic Leica camera for special color reproduction and photo atmosphere. All settings and focuses have to be done manually, just like on older film cameras. This gives the finished work a special flair.
The process is complicated and prolonged by varying lighting conditions and slow shutter speeds. But the end result is well worth it!
The creation of a single character (dressing the model, applying make-up, properly fitting the turban) and shooting takes a whole working day. To be exact it takes 6-8 hours - sometimes up to 10 hours (with short breaks for the model to rest).
