نام آن به صاحب مغفور ولد بن علی اشترجانی بوده که اساس آن سلجوقی و در سال ۷۱۶ قمری ساخته شده است مساحت تقربی ۱۵۰۰ مترمربع در درب ورودی یکی در جنوب شرقی و دیگری در شمال آن است درب جنوب شرقی سر درگچی و۷ متر ارتفاع دارد. مسجد جامع «اشترجان » در ۳۶ کیلومتری جنوب غربی #اصفهان در منطقه لنجان واقع شده و به استناد کتیبه های تاریخی آن ، در سال ۷۱۵ به دستور خواجه فخرالدین محمدبن محمود بن علی اشترجانی ساخته شده است این مسجد یکی از نمونه های نفیس معماری ایلخانی از اواخر سلطنت محمد خدابنده (اولجایتو) به شمار می آید.
مسجد اشترجان در ایمان شهر واقع شده است. این مسجد در تاریخ ۱۲ اسفند ۱۳۱۵ با شماره ۲۶۳ به‌عنوان یکی از آثار ملی ایران به ثبت رسیده است
