π The Eassie Stone π
Village of Eassie, Angus, Scotland π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
The stone itself stands behind a glass screen within the ruins of the old church.
Is probably dated to between the 7th - 8th centuries AD, at a time when Christianity has recently spread to Pictland but pagan ideas were still accepted. This side (the front) is decorated with a large cross, flanked to the left by a hunter carrying a spear and square shield. To the right are two hunting dogs and a red deer stag. The upper portion of the cross is flanked by two angels.
