955- «وفي رواية عنه: أَنَّهُ لما ذكر صِيَامَ دَاوُدَ (ع) قَالَ: وَكَانَ وَلا يَفِرُّ إِذَا لاقَى قَالَ عبدالله: مَنْ لِي بِهَذِهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لا صَامَ مَنْ صَامَ الأَبَدَ مَرَّتَيْنِ». (بخاری: 1977)
ترجمه: «در روایتی دیگر از عبد الله چنین نقل شده است كه وقتی رسول الله ﷺ سخن از روزه حضرت داوود (ع) بمیان آورد (كه یک روز در میان، روزه می‌گرفت)، فرمود:(بدینجهت بود كه) «هنگام رویارویی با دشمن، فرار نمی‌كرد». عبد الله می‌گوید: عرض كردم: ای رسول خدا! كسی هست كه این را برای من، متعهد شود؟ رسول الله ﷺ دوباره، فرمود: «كسی كه تمام عمر را بدون وقفه روزه گیرد، روزه‌اش معتبر نخواهد شد»».
