Running old games on Windows 11

I have a bunch of old games I wanted to run (math blaster, reader rabbit, jump start, etc).

It seems that Winevdm is a popular emulator for running 16 bit games. Does anyone know if this would be the right one for these types of games?

"E:\Games\Data\Call Of Duty" Folder keeps re-appearing even after deleting it upon restart.

Is there any way i can see why it keeps coming back? or at least what's putting it there?

External hard drive as shared network drive, one shows as a drive icon and one as a folder icon?

I have three external hard drives plugged into a laptop I use as a PLEX server. One hard drive I mapped as a shared drive months ago and use for movies for PLEX. The icon for this on my main laptop shows as a drive icon under the network drives.

I just mapped two additional external hard drives to use for backups and for some reason they are showing up as folder icons under the network drives.

Any idea on why these are showing up differently? The functionality so far seems to be the same...I just don't like the inconsistency.

Solved: It was because I didn't map it as a network drive, but rather added as a network location. Unsure if there is an actual difference, but that is what it was.

Looking for a good application to let me play an audio book in the form of mp3 files

I have a bunch of .mp3 files of an audio book series with each being about 12 hours long. I have been playing them from foobar2000 but i am hoping to find a better alternative that would let me save my place in one of these long audio books so i don't have to guess where i left off after i close the application.

I would love for any suggestions as this is not my field of expertise to the point that foobar2000 may even have a feature i don't know about that lets you do what i am looking for.

This might be a stupid question but...

I wanted to know, there are some hidden registry keys that are capable of modifying the OS's look that I'm not aware of? I already knows some stuff like MTCUVC and all the thingies in Windows\shell and also that one in Control Panel where you can get the Windows 8.x network flyout, but, I wanted to know, are there any other registry key that can make Windows 10 look and feel older? I consulted also BetaWiki but I have a feeling that I am missing something, that's why I am asking.

Also 1st post here :P

Does disabling Windows Game Bar hurt performance on AMD CPUs?

Hello Guys,

I’m currently tweaking my system for the best possible performance and stability in gaming, and I’m running a Ryzen 9 7950X3D. Normally, I disable things like the Windows Game Bar, Xbox Game Services, and overlays to avoid unnecessary background processes that could impact latency or FPS.

But I recently came across a YouTube video where someone tested this with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D β€” and surprisingly, disabling the Game Bar slightly reduced performance.

Here were the results after turning it off:

* Around 1.7% lower average FPS
* About 3.6% lower 1% lows
* Roughly 1% lower 0.2% lows

Here’s the video:

This goes against the usual advice to disable unused Windows features. It made me wonder if there’s some connection between the Game Bar and how Windows handles Ryzen X3D CPUs, maybe something related to scheduling, telemetry, or background optimization.

I’m focused mainly on getting consistent performance and low latency in competitive games. So now I’m curious:

Has anyone else tested whether disabling the Game Bar affects performance on AMD CPUs β€” especially X3D models?
Is this specific to the hybrid CCD design of the 7950X3D and similar CPUs?
Could this have something to do with Windows 11’s scheduling behavior?

Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences. There doesn’t seem to be much solid info about this out there.

Thanks in advance!
