Looking for Free Offline Translation App for Windows (Since Microsoft Translator is Retired)
Hey all,
Iβm searching for a free translation program recommendation that works offline on Windows.
I used to use Microsoft Translator, but it's been officially discontinued and removed from the Microsoft Store. Even if you find a way to install it, the offline language packs wonβt download, so itβs not a usable option anymore.
Iβm hoping to find an alternative that:
Works entirely offline
Is free to use
Covers major languages (English, French, Arabic, Spanish, etc.)
interface does not matter if it does the job
Any recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I just found a cool trick with context menus in Win11
In Windows 11, when right clicking a file, you're presented with less options to choose from unless you select "Show More Options". Well, if you double right click the file, it automatically brings you to the full menu.

What's a sticky-notes app that doesn't create windows that are alt-tabbed to?
I naturally navigate with alt-tab and want to keep that layer of my workspace clean and minimal.
But I also want to have notes on my desktop that are always just sort of "there" that I can easily refer to, cross out, edit etc, without me having to remember to fire up a program
Any suggestions for an app that can suit such needs?

Did windows using my pc like cloud storage
Whenever I leave my PC idle, I see the hard drive indicator very active and the power consumption rises quite a bit, as soon as I move the mouse it goes back to "sleep" for a few minutes, then goes back to doing its thing, I try to enter the task manager but it immediately hides some processes, it definitely has nothing to do with scanning for viruses or malware, I have tested it on different Windows installations 10 and 11 and they all do the same thing. Although the disk does not contain personal data, it shows me gigantic files with strange extensions

Windows 7: Is it still possible?
I am not thrilled with Windows 11 and Microsoft's ownership of a user's computer and data. I wish to return to the simplicity of Windows 7.
Is it possible to find compatible hardware and installable OS for Windows 7?
I have a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, but it is already installed on my spouse's Dell laptop.
Thank you

Creating image backup
I have a mini PC, Beelink U59 Pro, it runs Windows 10, and I want to make image backup so I can go back to the previous state (when the backup was made) in case it is needed. Which software is the best to do this?
The C: drive is a SSD, 930GB size. Do I need to attach external storage for creating the backup, or can it be stored in the 2nd SSD (it has more than 1TB free space).

Stunted that many apps on Microsoft Store downgraded to just Edge Wrapper, π
As I haven't subscribed to Netflix for a long time but just recently got back.
I was stunted that many of the streaming application on Windows went to be just web application with Edge Browser. I still can clearly remembered back when they still have it and it's great.
So now the only streaming application that is look and behave natively to Windows Platform is "Apple TV". So weird.
Is this a move from Microsoft to their developers or third-party company? Embracing web technology and leave there own framework (.NET, WinUI, etc.) abandond. If so, why the H they waste their time on them.
They should have learn from Microsoft Co-pilot app on Windows, first they release web wrapper and everyone hated it until real native app came along, duh.

Extended monitor question
Hello, so currently I run a Lenovo Thinkpad at work which is connected to a second monitor (wired). I use it as a second desktop. However at times I wanted to either mirror one of them or extend to another monitor wirelessly. Is that possible? If so how would I go about doing that.

Problem, and it happens every time with my icons.
Turn off my other monitor, and BAM!!! My icons on the main screen, that were normal, scramble all over the screen even somebody got sick.
How can I stop this? Or get a program to just restore it?
There was a program that did that back in the day. I forget it now.
Thank you so much.

Prevent taskbar from showing up on boot
Already enabled auto-hide but I am just looking to disable it directly when session open it shows up for a few seconds, is there any tweak available in Registry or somewhere else. Any 3rd party app still needs to load before it does anything so it should be within Windows directly.

So if Microsoft is doubling down on the "handheld performance", wouldn't applying those changes to a desktop still reduce overhead in theory?
Everyone knows that Windows has a bajillion things going on behind the curtain at all times. It's one of the big reasons windows on handhelds is a resource/battery hog. With Microsoft seemingly committing to improving windows performance on handhelds, it seems reasonable that whatever they do should also be applicable to a standard desktop environment. So far we don't know what their plan actually is. Either making tweaks that ship on handheld installs, or even better a fork of windows 11 with a lot of background noise cut out. Either way, do any of you see this as something that would benefit desktops as well?

Looking for a way to restore window positions on specific virtual desktops after reboot (Windows 11)
I'm using virtual desktops (Task View) extensively to organize.
For example:
Desktop 1: eM Client (left) + Obsidian (right)
Desktop 2: Main workspace
Desktop 3: Chrome full screen
Desktop 4: Discord (left) + WhatsApp (right)
This layout boosts my productivity, but after every reboot, I have to manually reopen and rearrange everything.
Is there any tool or workaround that reliably does this?
Thanks in advance!

Why Microsoft keeps pushing WebView and React in Windows 11?
I've been wondering why Microsoft keeps pushing using web and react on Windows 11, instead of building native apps. They use React to build the "Recommend" section, using web to make Widget, Weather app is basically a web app, Outlook is now a web app too, etc. They're all slow, resource-intensive and unresponsive. They have their own frameworks that work faster and more efficiently like WinUI, MAUI, Blazor, .NET, etc , don't they?
Thank you

Turn off monitor with keyboard?
Is there a way to disable and enable my hdmi output with a simple keyboard combination? Or turn off my monitor through keyboard or button? Iβve done all the YouTube videos that tell u to make a shortcut and enter the code with powershell but for some reason it doesnβt work for me. Also I donβt want mouse movement to wake the monitor again. I want the same key button to toggle the monitor on and off again. Any ideas? Thanks!
