🏗Nikolay Sokolov: spatial trusses of the future for additive manufacturing
Nikolay Sokolov, a graduate of the Master's program "Digital Construction of Buildings and Structures", carried out research as part of his Master's thesis on "Automation of design of nodal connections of spatial trusses for additive manufacturing"
As part of this work, an algorithm was developed that fully automates the process of creating spatial rod structures of complex but optimized (by mass criterion) layout and rod connection nodes.

This approach to design will make it possible in the future to refuse unification and typification of layout in favor of significant metal savings. Complex layout of such structures can be realized by additively produced parts of node joints. Thanks to 3D printing technologies it is possible to realize any geometry of such nodes.
