🇷🇺🇮🇶 Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Muhammed Shia al-Sudani
🔹There was a detailed exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East in the context of Israel's use of force against Iran, as well as the US air strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Both sides noted these actions, which represent a gross violation of the UN Charter and other norms of international law, are fraught with extremely dangerous and unpredictable consequences for the stability of the region and the entire international security architecture. They confirmed their interest in seeing a speedy end to the hostilities and a return to using political and diplomatic means to resolve the situation.
🔹Vladimir Putin and Muhammed Shia al-Sudani have also expressed concern over the risks emerging for global energy markets and emphasised the importance of continuing active cooperation within OPEC+.
🔹Pressing matters pertaining to bilateral cooperation, including in trade and economy, were addressed as well. The leaders expressed a mutual desire to strengthen the traditionally friendly ties between Russia and Iraq further.
🔹The President of Russia wished Muhammed Shia al-Sudani success in the context of Iraq currently holding the presidency of the Arab League. It was agreed that the two sides will take steps to ensure the first Russia-Arab summit, to be held in October 2025, proves productive.
