از ابن عباس رضي الله عنه روايت است كه گفت: رسول الله ـ صلي الله عليه و سلم ـ فرمودند:
«هیچ روزهایی نیست که اعمال صالح در آن نزد الله محبوب‌تر از این روزهای دهگانه یعنی دهه‌ی ذی الحجه باشد گفتند: ای رسول الله، و نه حتی جهاد در راه الله؟ فرمود: نه حتی جهاد در راه الله، مگر مردی که با جان و مالش بیرون رود و هیچ یک را بازنگرداند.»

He replied, "Not even #Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah's sake) and does not return with any of those things." #Sahih al-Bukhari 969
