ألب أرسلان عضد الدولة، أبو شجاع محمد بن جغري بك داود بن ميكائيل بن سلجوق بن دقاق التركماني (20 يناير1029 - 15 أو 25 أو 30 ديسمبر 1072م)، أحد أهم قادة المسلمين وكبار رجال التاريخ، وصاحب الانتصار الخالد على الروم في معركة ملاذكرد. عُرف بإسم (ألب أرسلان) ومعناها بالتركية (الأسد الباسل). كان رابع حكام الأتراك السلاجقة لقب بسلطان العالم أو بالسلطان الكبير او الملك العادل. بلغ حدود حكمه من أقاصي بلاد ما وراء النهر إلى أقاصي بلاد الشام، ورغم عظم مملكته، إلا أنه كان تابعاً للخلافة العباسية في بغداد.
