"قلَّد المتأخرون المتقدمين في المدح والذم، فقالوا: غزال، مدحاً للمرأة، وتمدحوا أيضاً فقالوا: فلانة كبقر الوحش، وما معنى هذا الكلام؟ معناه: أن البقر لها أعين كبيرة ... فتُشبَّه المرأة بها لأجل سعة العيون، فشبهوا المرأة التي خلقها الله في أحسن تقويمٍ وصورةٍ بالبقر، وهل هناك مذمَّة أو شتيمة أكثر من أن نقول لإنسان: أنت كالبقرة، أو كالحيوان، ولكن هكذا طلبوا أن يقولوا، وأجمل شيء أن يقال ما قاله ربنا: {وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ}، فأحسن صورنا في أيدينا وفي عيوننا وفي أفواهنا، وأحسن صورنا بالجمال الذي هو أجمل من كل جميل في الأرض".
