الصَّبرُ عندَ المَصائبِ معناه: أنْ يحبِسَ الإنسانُ نفْسَه عن قَولٍ مُحرَّمٍ أو فِعْلٍ مُحرَّمٍ، أو عَمَلٍ قَلبيٍّ مُحرَّمٍ، هذا هو الصَّبرُ، فلا يتسخَّطُ بقَلبِه على قَضاءِ اللهِ، ولا يقولُ بِلسانِه قولًا ينِمُّ عنِ التَّسخُّطِ؛ مثلُ: يا وَيْلاه، يا ثُبُوراه، يا حَسْرَتاه، وما أشبَهَ ذلك، ولا يفعَلُ بجَوارحِه فِعْلًا يدُلُّ على التَّسخُّطِ؛ كلَطْمِ الخُدودِ وشَقِّ الجُيوبِ ونَتْفِ الشُّعورِ، وما أشبَهَ ذلك، هذا هو الصَّبرُ.
