Last-minute rescue....
In 2009, the famous Italian freediver Enzo Maiorca was diving with his daughter Rossana off the coast of Syracuse.
During one dive, he suddenly felt a slight jolt in his back. When he turned around, he saw a dolphin – but it didn't want to play, but seemed to be urgently asking for help.
The dolphin dove down, and Enzo followed. At a depth of about 15 meters, he spotted a second dolphin entangled in an abandoned fishing net. Enzo asked his daughter for a knife and was able to free the animal at the last minute. The dolphin, visibly weakened, let out a sound that Enzo later described as an "almost human scream."
Barely reaching the surface, it turned out to be a pregnant female – a few moments later, she gave birth to a baby dolphin. The male dolphin circled the scene, swam up to Enzo, gently touched his cheek—like a kiss—and then disappeared into the open sea with his little family.
Later, Enzo said, moved:
"As long as humans don't learn to respect nature and communicate with animals, they will never understand their true role on this earth."
