وقد حُكي أن سليمانَ بن داود عليهما الصلاة والسّلام مرَّ بعصفورٍ يدور حول عصفورةٍ
فقال لأصحابه: أتدرون ما يقول لها؟!
قالوا: لا يا نبيَّ الله. قال: إنه يخطبها إلى نفسه، ويقول: زوِّجيني نفسكِ أُسكِنْكِ أيَّ غُرَف دمشقَ شئتِ!
قال سليمان عليه السلام: وكذب العصفور، غرفُ دمشقَ مبنيةٌ بالصخر، لا يقدر أن يُسكِنَها هناك، ولكن كل خاطب كذّاب!
