صادق(ع) آمده كه اگر كسى چهل روز «دعای عهد» بخواند از ياران امام مهدى(عج) خواهد شد؛ اما این آثار دعا ممکن است مقيد باشد به اينكه اعمال و رفتار ديگر او نيز درست و مطابق موازين شرع باشد و ممكن است خداوند متعال به بركت اين دعا انسان را متحول گرداند و با خواندن آن در چهل روز و عهد قلبى با حضرت مهدى(عج) به اين قابليت برسد كه بتواند از اصحاب حضرت شود.
