Bustling St. Petersburg 🏃➡️🚉 🚶➡️ peaceful Sestroretsk
It only takes an hour to travel from Finlyandsky Railway Station to Sestroretsk, a serene resort on the Gulf of Finland. The small coastal town has an oak grove dating back to times of Peter the Great, spas with mineral waters and therapeutic mud, and even a historiс “safehouse” once used by Vladimir Lenin.

A Bachelor’s student in computer science, Suraj came to ITMO to learn new skills, discover a new culture, and make new friends.
I wanted to try something completely new and see what it could bring out in me. Coming to a different country felt like a challenge that would help me grow academically and personally. I’ve struggled with social anxiety, so part of the decision was about pushing myself to open up and meet new people. ITMO offered a space to face my fears, and discover who I could become outside my comfort zone.

The 2025 Nobel Prizes are here 🔥
This year’s laureates have changed how we see chemistry, physics, and medicine, and their work resonates with what our scientists and researchers do at ITMO.
➡️ The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar M. Yaghi for the creation of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Valentin Milichko explains.
➡️ John Clarke, Michel Devore, and John Martinis received the Nobel Prize in Physics for their insights into macroscopic quantum tunneling, the phenomenon behind superconducting circuits and quantum computers. Ivan Iorsh sheds light on this topic.
➡️ This year’s Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi for furthering the understanding of how our immune system protects us from diseases – and from itself. Learn more from Oleg Kuchur.
