Writing code and solving problems excites me, and I’m eager to dive deeper into AI and machine learning. I love how data can be turned into insights, and how AI uses them to solve real problems in fields like healthcare and education.

💊 ITMO researchers’ newest AI algorithm has discovered 56 promising antibiotic molecules against E. coli, with potential future applications against salmonella, klebsiella, and meningococcus.
🔬 Physics Day 2025 at ITMO welcomed over 700 visitors with lectures, lab tours, and scientific shows celebrating Russia’s Physics Day.
🛰 ITMO scientists have successfully optimized levitating microparticles for use in high-precision sensors capable of measuring gravity, acceleration, and more for geoscience and navigation.

Between coding, football games, and late-night café explorations, Omar “Remo” Haj Muhammad is living it up at ITMO.
Walking through the city with music in my headphones makes me feel like the main character of a movie. I play football with friends, read, or explore new cafés. But honestly, my favorite ‘hobby’ might be people-watching. Sitting somewhere and observing life around me is cheaper than Netflix and often funnier.

Meet Ivan Martinez, a Chilean researcher who has brought his passion for chemistry and water sustainability to ITMO University.
These past four years, I’ve been working on filtration membranes for seawater desalination. In Chile, this is a particularly relevant issue. We have these massive copper mines that require a great deal of water, and the only nearby source is the sea. Many regions of the country also experience a lack of clean water, so desalination is an issue of the mining industry as well as of public life and health.

During a visit to the construction site, Vice Governor Irina Potekhina reviewed the progress on its techno valley, which will receive 5 billion rubles of investments towards new high-tech research and production facilities.
The techno valley will serve as the city’s new hub for innovation and collaboration between science, education, and industry.
