شهر تهران یکی از قدیمی‌ترین شهرهای ایران و حتی جهان بوده، چراکه پیشینه‌ی بقایای تاریخی ای که در این ناحیه یافت شده است به هفت هزار سال پیش بازمی‌گردد. در سال‌های آغازین حکومت سلسله‌ی قاجار، این شهر توسط آقا محمدخان قاجار به عنوان پایتخت ایران انتخاب شد. در آن زمان تهران تنها دارای پنج میدان اصلی بود و وسعت کمی داشت اما پس از آن به تدریج، دوازده میدان دیگر نیز در آن ساخته شد.🤩
