🔻تست پورفیرین (Porphyrin test) برای تشخیص گونه‌های هموفیلوس، به‌ویژه هموفیلوس آنفلوآنزا، استفاده می‌شود. این تست توانایی باکتری در تولید پورفیرین (پیش‌ساز هم) را بررسی می‌کند.
🔻باکتری‌هایی که قادر به تولید پورفیرین هستند، نیازی به فاکتور X (همین) برای رشد ندارند، درحالی‌که هموفیلوس آنفلوآنزا به این فاکتور نیاز دارد و در تست پورفیرین نتیجه منفی نشان می‌دهد. این ویژگی به افتراق هموفیلوس آنفلوآنزا از سایر گونه‌های هموفیلوس کمک می‌کند.
