شیخ بهائی (۹۵۳_۱۰۳۱ق) نیز مانند دیگر علمای شیعه، اطلاق‌گیری از اخبار «علم ما کان و ما یکون» را رد کرده و دو وجه برای آن بیان می‌کند تا با اختصاص علم غیب به خداوند سازگار باشد:
«ما تضمّنه هذا الحديث من تعليمه صلّى اللّه عليه و آله و سلّم لأمير المؤمنين عليّ عليه السّلام ما كان و ما يكون يمكن حمله على الأحكام الشرعيّة في المسائل الكائنة و المتجدّدة، و يمكن حمله على بعض المغيّبات التي أطلع اللّه تعالى رسوله صلّى اللّه عليه و آله و سلّم عليها، فقد نقل أصحاب السير من الخاصّ و العامّ أنّ أمير المؤمنين عليه السّلام أخبر بكثير من ذلك.»
