it's really really hard to get tricked into dehumanising people if u already have a sense of kinship with them so if u live in the imperial core u have a responsibility to follow at least a few anime dorks from iran or yemen or one of the other designated Scary Countries, i'm 100% serious

If you're cis, you need you need to read stuff written by trans folks. If you're straight you need to read stuff written by queers. Etc etc - if you have a privilege it is very easy for you to ignore others who don't have that privilege (People who are marginalized are universally forced to listen to the words and POV of people who are centered in a way that people who are centered do not re: people who are marginalized) source
