لفظ يطلقه المحدثون عند ذكرهم لمن يسرق الحديث، أو يروي الموضوعات، أو مَن هو صاحب بدعة، وهو الغالب في استعمالها عندهم. وهو يفيد معنى الدعاء والتضرُّع إلى الله بأن يسلمنا ويعافينا من ابتلاء وقع في الموصوف، فجعله يحيد عن الصواب، ويميل عن الطريق المستقيم.
من ذلك: قول أبي حاتم -في محمد بن يزيد الأسلمي-:" كان قد كتب حديثاً كثيراً جداً، ثم خلّط بعد، رأيت يوماً في كتبه…. ثم ساق حديثاً ثم قال: وقلت له: هذا من حديث حفص بن غياث، فظننت أن إنساناً ذاكره، فسرقه منه وكتبه، نسأل الله السلامة".
وقال الذهبي-في محمد بن سعدون بن مرجي المغربي-:" وكان من بحور العلم، لولا تجسيم فيه، نسأل الله السلامة".
