There is currently no verified evidence that an F-16 shot the SU-35 down, despite claims made yesterday.

It may or may not be true, but the fact remains that we do not yet know what shot down the Su-35.
Based on statistics, however, it is more likely that it was a surface-to-air missile (SAM). Time will tell.
