China created world's first UAV called "Feiyi" for submarines
Reusable underwater UAV was created by a team of specialists from Northwestern Polytechnic University headed by Associate Professor Dong Chanyin with the support of the Chinese Aeronautical Society. The unique design of “Feiyi” ensures high efficiency of its application both underwater and in the air.
The Feiyi's excellent performance is due to the use of a number of advanced technologies in its construction. First and foremost are its four pairs of propellers, which can be folded and fit tightly to the fuselage. The innovative hull significantly reduces drag when traveling underwater, which greatly increases its efficiency. “Feiyi has demonstrated unique capabilities when taking off and landing on the water surface. Even in stormy conditions, it can maintain a vertical position and quickly deploy its main rotor to complete takeoff.
After completing its tasks, the UAV can submerge underwater in just five seconds and quickly escape. In addition, “Feiyi” can also be equipped with various multifunctional modules (according to the needs) and realize the ability to perform tasks autonomously with the help of built-in artificial intelligence.
