One of the greatest things that enhance certainty in one’s heart is seeing Allah answer one’s prayers in a way that undoubtedly shows it is the fulfillment of one’s wishes.
The Path to Allah answering our prayers begins with our understanding that prayer isn’t merely a request or a plea. Rather, it is the essence of servitude to Allah. Thus, it should embody the highest forms of sincerity, with utmost humility, humbleness, neediness and acknowledgement of one’s sins, while recalling the Majesty, the Perfection and the Greatness of the One you are calling upon, and invoking Him with His names and attributes relevant to the situation.
By doing so, the servant of Allah has given his all; his heart and soul, with complete submission to his Creator, the Possessor of complete wealth and absolute Perfection, combined with an attitude of helplessness and neediness.
Once the servant has asked his Lord, he submits to Him. Uncertainty does not creep into his heart if the answer to his prayers is delayed. The only thing he has in mind is complete reliance on the Knower of all—seen and unseen. Thus, he regards the matter submissively, returns and remains adherent to prayer as a form of servitude, in humbleness, reverence, neediness and glorification. He remains in that status until Allah extends His aid to him, and sends His mercy onto him. The Most Generous answers his prayers, and continues to answer them, until his heart is filled with certainty and faith, and he learns for sure that Allah is the Truth, glory be to Him, and gets to know the meaning of Him being the All-Hearing, the Near, the Responsive. Thus, he never becomes doubtful, and his faith is never shaken.
He who is deprived of this is deprived of all good, and is missing on everything. All the gains of this world could never compensate his soul and his heart for the loss of this divine mercy.
O Allah, forgive us and have mercy on us, and answer our prayers, O Hearer, O Knower. O Allah be Gracious to the ummah of Muhammad, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, and have mercy on them and elevate them, O Great, O Most High.

It is important for the head of the household to prepare his family for the advent of Ramadan by informing them of its virtue, and the importance of taking advantage of it. He should invite them to renew their covenant with Allah through repentance, asking Allah’s forgiveness, giving heed to their prayers, doing good to people, maintaining kinship ties, forgiveness and kindness, and letting go of grudges against family and friends.

The less preachers and scholars there are to help Muslims remain steadfast under trial and in the face of indecencies, the greater the responsibility of parents to instill these values in their children, and raise them to love Allah and His messenger peace be upon him, revere the five daily prayers, resent immorality, fear the punishment of Allah and hope for His mercy. "And each of you is responsible for your charges”.

The more righteous, obedient to Allah and close to Him a person becomes, and the more good deeds he has, the more he fears being tested in his faith and worries that his heart might go astray if he does not follow some of the commandments of Allah. Conversely, the more a person deviates, neglects the commandments of Allah and takes them lightly, the less he fears for his heart going astray as a result of not being obedient. The formula is: the more a person appreciates what he has, the more he fears for losing it. The type of fear we are talking about is not anxiety, but rather a type of fear that is mixed with modesty and knowledge.

One of the strongest motives to persevere, sacrifice and work hard is to monitor the conditions of Muslims, to feel for their tragedies and develop awareness about their true state of affairs. How could a Muslim be content with living totally immersed in his personal concerns—no matter how grave they are—while paying no attention to the afflictions of his brothers? The Prophet, peace be upon him, says, “Muslims are like one body; if the eye is sore, the whole body aches, and if the head aches, the whole body aches.”
