قال رسول الله ـ صلّی الله علیه و آله ـ: والّذی بَعَثَنی بالحقِّ نبیاً لولم یبقِ من الدنیا الا یومٌ واحدٌ لا طالَ اللهُ ذلک الیومَ حتی یُخرُجَ منه وَلَدی المهدیُّ فَیَنْزِلُ روحُ الله عیسی بن مریم ـ علیه السّلام ـ فَیُصلِّی خَلْفَه. ـ
« بحارالانوار، ج 51، ص 71» پیامبر اکرم ـ صلّی الله علیه و آله ـ فرمودند: قسم به آن کس که مرا به حق به نبوت مبعوث کرد اگر از دنیا جز یک روز باقی نماند آن روز را طولانی می کند تا فرزندم مهدی در آن روز قیام کند پس عیسی بن مریم فرود می آید و پشت سرش نماز می خواند.
