Seven premier Indian institutes have made it to the Top 100 in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026. Leading the way is IIT Delhi at 59th place, followed by IISc Bengaluru, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, and Delhi University — a testament to India’s growing academic and research excellence.

From just 24 ranked universities in 2016 to 294 in 2026, India now ranks second after China in total institutions featured. This remarkable progress reflects the success of reforms like NEP 2020, Institutions of Eminence, and RUSA, driving quality, innovation, and global competitiveness.
