3 types of spray nozzle modeling
SIMPAL GROUP
1) VOF mode | Eulerian method
this model is used to determine the internal flow of water inside a pressure swirl nozzle.
This model gives us important data like the pressure drop of the nozzle and the air core thickness
2) DPM model | Lagrangian method
The discrete Phase Method (DPM) is a good choice for the simulation of secondary breakup. Although it can't predict the pressure drop and spray angle, it gives good results about particle breakup, temperature distribution, and velocity of droplets.
In this method, operators should determine pressure and spray angle as the boundary condition.
3) VOF to DPM | Hybrid method
This recent model connects two DPM and VOF methods and is based on the adaptive mesh to decrease the computational cost compared to the VOF model and also shows both the primary and secondary breakup process of the spray
