SPHMMC Celebrates International Day of the Midwife in Collaboration with EMwA
Today, St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) proudly celebrated the International Day of the Midwife in collaboration with the Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA). This global occasion recognizes the vital role midwives play in promoting the health and well-being of mothers, newborns, and families.
During the event, midwives and honored guests visited mothers who had delivered babies within the past 12 hours, celebrating both the strength of the mothers and the essential care provided by midwives. In a thoughtful gesture, the guests presented gifts to the mothers in recognition of Midwives Day.
The celebration also honored SPHMMC’s midwives for their outstanding achievements and dedicated service in maternal care. Their vital contributions in reducing maternal and infant mortality were recognized and applauded.
St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College Celebrates World Hand Hygiene Day

St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) successfully held a Hand Hygiene Campaign today in observance of World Hand Hygiene Day.

The event saw active participation from staff and leadership, and was officially opened by Dr. Sena Dugasa, Ato Jemal Shiefa, and Dr. Wuletaw Chane.

Dr. Bethelehem Tebebe, Director of Infection Prevention and Patient Safety, highlighted the crucial role of hand hygiene in preventing infections and ensuring patient safety. The campaign aligns with the national strategy to reduce disease and enhance healthcare quality.

World Hand Hygiene Day, observed globally each year, promotes hand hygiene as a simple but powerful tool in infection prevention.

SPHMMC extended its gratitude to Taza Detergent for sponsoring the campaign and supporting public health initiatives. The college also thanked all staff members for their active involvement in fostering a culture of hygiene and safety.
