💬Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko: No longer only border regions of Russia are interested in partnership relations with the DPRK

🇷🇺🇰🇵On July 29, 2025, the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko met with the Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Pak In Chol.

➡️The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva. Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev and Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Petr Tolstoy took part in the talks.

🤝Valentina Matvienko recalled that the Federation Council approved in November 2024 the ratification of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and the DPRK. This document was signed on June 19, 2024 in Pyongyang by the leaders of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.

The strength of our ties has been tested. We see with satisfaction the ongoing intensification of political dialogue at all levels.


👉Russian parliamentarians are ready to intesify contacts along parliamentary lines, the Speaker of the Federation Council emphasized.

According to her, the upper house. of the Russian parliament, as a chamber of regions, is set on actively engaging the subjects of the Federation in the process of Russian-Korean strategic partnership and alliance.

No longer only the border regions of the Far East, which know North Korea well, are showing direct interest. We need to move forward.


💬🇰🇵Pak In Chol noted that the people of North Korea will help the people of Russia support the struggle for their sovereignty and territorial integrity thanks to the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and the DPRK.
