بر اساس آمار مرحله سوم سراسری که توسط وزارت نیرو برداشت شده است. سالانه بیش از 1 میلیون چاه بهره برداری که حدود 800 هزار عدد آن فعال است، عددی در حدود 42 میلیارد متر مکعب آب را از آبخوان های کشور استحصال می کنند. شکل پیوست شده موقعیت مکانی این چاه ها را نشان می دهد.
