Case Summary
A 35-year-old male patient presented with right upper quadrant pain, and his case was evaluated by the trainees of the Comprehensive Ultrasound Diploma at Addison Institute.
Ultrasound Findings:
Liver Size: The liver is within normal size limits, measuring 15 cm in the right lobe.
Gallbladder: The gallbladder is distended, measuring 4.5 cm in length, with a thickened wall (5 mm), indicative of inflammation.
Stone Detection: Multiple echogenic foci are observed within the gallbladder lumen, with posterior acoustic shadowing, confirming the presence of gallstones (cholelithiasis). The largest stone measures 2.0 cm.
Bile Ducts: The common bile duct is not dilated, measuring 5 mm, indicating no significant obstruction at this time.
Pericholecystic Fluid: A small amount of pericholecystic fluid is noted, suggesting mild inflammation around the gallbladder.
Through hands-on training in real clinical scenarios, the trainees gain practical experience and enhance their diagnostic skills in the comprehensive ultrasound program at Addison Institute.
