A 25-year-old male patient presented with flank pain, and his case was evaluated by the trainees of the Comprehensive Ultrasound Diploma at Addison Institute.
♦️The ultrasound findings include:
Kidney Size: Both kidneys are within normal size limits, with the right kidney measuring 11.2 cm and the left kidney measuring 10.8 cm in length.
Stone Detection: Multiple echogenic foci are visualized within the renal pelvis and lower calyces of both kidneys, with posterior acoustic shadowing, confirming the presence of kidney stones. The largest stone in the right kidney measures 1.6 cm, while the largest stone in the left kidney measures 1.4 cm.
Hydronephrosis: Mild hydronephrosis is observed in the right kidney, indicating partial obstruction caused by the stone. The left kidney shows no signs of hydronephrosis.
Ureter: The ureters are not clearly visualized, which is typical in an ultrasound unless they are significantly dilated due to obstruction.
Through hands-on training in real clinical scenarios, the trainees gain practical experience and enhance their diagnostic skills in the comprehensive ultrasound program at Addison Institute.
