Stable release!

Google started to show [400] error and show "Switch to YouTube.com" in the [Home] tab for some Google accounts.

Unlike the robot picture update screen, this cannot be resolved with a patch.
Because the YouTube's server doesn't return the response to the old clients (17.33-18.49).
You can't even use "Spoof app version". Spoofing to 17.40+ breaks the app.

At this time, you may be able to continue to use 17.34.36 by changing Google account or clearing the app data.
However, this is only a temporary extension of life.
This happened so much faster than I expected. 🥲

Today, more users are being affected by this!
There is no solution for this.
Use web youtube or alternative client apps.
Once it is rolled out for all users, I will archive the repository.

Do you know Kiwi Browser? 🐦
It is a Chromium-based browser with many features.
The biggest feature of Kiwi is Chrome extensions support.
But there is another major advantage: it supports Android 7.0!

The original Google Chrome dropped support for Android 7 at Chrome 119.
Other Chromium-based browsers also ended Android 7 support at 119.
Meanwhile, Kiwi 132 still supports Android 7!
Therefore, Kiwi is the most up-to-date Chromium-based browser available for Android 7.

Unfortunately, Kiwi's development ended in January 2025, so Kiwi 132 is the final version.
However, it remains the newest Chromium-based browser for Android 7.

Kiwi has been removed from the Play Store, but you can download the final version (Kiwi 132) from GitHub.

* On Android 5 and 6, kiwi is the same version as other Chromium-based browsers.
Only Android 7.x is special.

* Note that other than Chromium-based browsers, Firefox continues to support Android 5.0 and above.

Let me explain the current situation.

• Google finally started to shutdown the old clients!
• Old YouTube apps under v19.xx.xx are blocked by [400] error
• This was being gradually rolled out to some Google accounts.
• And this is now applied for most accounts.

If your account is targeted:
• The Home tab only shows "Switch to YouTube.com"
• Most of other pages return a [400] errors
• Only the Library tab and video playback is working

And if you cleared the app data:
• You will be logged out of the YouTube app.
• You may still be able to access YouTube normally if the Google Account is logged out.
• But You will never be able to log into your account again.
(The login menu also returns [400] error.)

Q. Will this be fixed?
No.
YouTube 17.34.36 is completely dead.

You can't even use "Spoof app version". Spoofing to 17.40+ breaks the app.
(It works for a little while, but when the new layout is loaded, the app will crash.)

I'll archive the repository once it is rolled out to all users.

This happened much sooner than I expected...
At first I thought 17.34.36 would be usable until around July.

A. Other Chromium-based browsers are based on Chrome 119.

• Firefox + uBlock Origin + SponsorBlock + Return YouTube Dislike + Video Background Play Fix
• Kiwi + uBlock Origin + SponsorBlock + Return YouTube Dislike
(For Android 7.x, the final Kiwi 132 is available. But Android 6.0 can use up to Kiwi 107. I don't know if uBO works on Chromium 107.)

If your device's SoC doesn't support VP9 hardware decoding, also install "enhanced-h264ify" extension.
YouTube web uses VP9 by default, it causes very laggy playback for non-supported devices.
Disabling VP9 and using H.264 improves performance for such old devices.

• Any browsers + AdGuard app (free) (HTTPS filtering enabled) (Only for Android 6.0 and 7.1)
AdGuard can't update filters on Android 7.0 or below.
Android 6.0 can update filters by installing Let's Encrypt CA certificate, but Android 7.0 has no way to update filters because starting Android 7.0, most apps don't trust user certificates.
so this is not available on Android 7.0 unless you have root permission

(It supports Google Account logging in unlike original NewPipe forks)

Update: Library tab and video playback are not working too.
(It seemed that it was working for me because my app had a cache.)
All pages just show [400] error now. (Except home tab)

Also, it started to get [400] error without Google accounts randomly!
Clearing app data will not work gradually.

This update gives 17.34.36 a little extra life.
Add missing resources, spoof app version, freeze server-side layouts.
No more crashes with 19.01.34 spoofing.

Long press the time to change video quality and playback speed.

Also, enable RVX settings > Player > Player button > playback speed overlay button to change it easily.

The force update screen (robot one) started to appear for these versions.

At this time, there is no impact to 17.34.36.
Spoofing to 19.01-19.19 is still possible because RVX Patch removes the robot screen.
