Questions on a Story featuring Weirdcore

Hi yall.

So I’m busy writing a story about two characters travelling through different worlds. Every world they travel to is based off of a different, popular aesthetic. One of the locations the characters go to is a world themed after Weirdcore.

Once the protagonists reach the Weirdcore section, they’re completely bewildered and a little scared of the new world around them, as it features the typical Weirdcore elements that can be found generally unnerving.

My problem is that one of the Weirdcore aesthetic’s key points is to be up to the viewer’s interpretation. I fear that having the characters react a certain way to the world around them (making comments, etc.) would ruin the “up to your interpretation” part of Weirdcore, as it would lead to the viewer feeling exactly what the protagonists are feeling, instead of the viewer creating their own interpretation of the world / aesthetic’s messages and features.

I ask this because I want to make sure I’m adapting these aesthetics properly to pay as much respect to them as I possibly can. The last thing I wanna do is misinterperet something and lead others to misinterpret it as well, especially not something as precious as an aesthetic.

I also apologize if some things are phrased weirdly. It was hard for me to accurately put my thoughts down like how I wanted.
