Signal plans to drop support for iOS 14 soon

I got iOS 14.4.1 with Signal version 7.14 and I got this message in the app: "Signal will no longer support your device's version of iOS soon. To keep using Signal, update your device to a newer version of iOS by 9/3/24. Update Now".

For how much time do you think we will be able to use the app? Not sure when Signal officially stopped supporting iOS 12, does anyone knows?

Apple ended active support for iOS 12 in September of 2019. Assuming it was matching Apple's date and based on one user on github (https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-iOS/issues/5661) who mentioned he was able to use Signal version 6.28.0.11 for iOS 12.5.7 until September 2023, it means 4 years later.

So can the same be assumed for Signal for iOS 14?

iPad 7's firmware port to iPad 6?

will there be a slight chance someone will port iPad 7's firmware to iPad 6? since both of them share the same chipset and are vulnerable to checkm8, i think people can somehow make it work just like the zombie iPod Touch 4 on iOS 7 port

(i am already aware of SEP incompatibility and there are no SEP exploits for A10 Fusion)

How to "buy" apps from iTunes to work around the newer iOS requirement?

I'm running on 15.0, but there are some new apps I've run into that require 16.0 or later. I can't see the "Download older version?" prompt, because my account does not "own" that app, and I don't own a device on 16.0 or newer.

Years ago I used to be able to log into iTunes on a Mac/PC and "buy" the app with my account, then come back on the device and download an older version, now that I own it.

However, I tried this and it doesn't appear to work. The app doesn't show up in my Purchased if I "buy" it from a computer… how is everyone working around this in 2024?

Will the iPhone XS/XS Max and XR get iOS 19 next year?


I know this is incredibly early, as the iOS 18 beta was announced yesterday. I'm just curious about people's thoughts if the XS will get iOS 19. Like how the 6s outlasted the 6 by 3 years, will the XS outlast the X by 3 years, landing it in iOS 19?

I also noticed a pattern. Every S model increased the total number of years for iPhone support without exception. The future of jailbreak also seems interesting.

iPhone 3GS - 4 updates (iPhone OS3-iOS 6)

iPhone 4s - 5 updates (iOS 5-iOS 9)

iPhone 5s - 6 updates (iOS 7-12)

iPhone 6s - 7 updates (iOS 9-15)

iPhone XS - 8 updates?? (iOS 12-iOS 19???).

I know there are tweaks that can spoof which iOS you’re on, but are there any tweaks that can spoof what device you’re using?

There’s a game that i want to play but Apple has arbitrarily imposed a restriction of only A12 and above devices being able to play it. I’ve managed to get it sideloaded onto my 8+ ( A11 ) and it runs at perfectly playable speeds. Right up to the point where it tells me my device is incompatible because I don’t have an A12 chipset. I know there used to be tweaks that could spoof your iOS version so you could run apps requiring a higher iOS than was installed on your device. Is there a similar tweak that can spoof your device identifier? Something that would allow me to fool the device check and successfully play the game on my A11 device?

Dumping system apps from iOS 18

Has anyone tried dumping system apps such as the iPad calculator from iOS 18 yet? Then side load them on older devices with trollstore (maybe won’t work for complicated apps but might with simple ones)

Multitasking tweak compatible with trollstore?

Hi, found a few very good multitasking tweaks (dynamic stage, etc) but they dont seem to have a troll-edition. Is there any working on trollstore or is there a way to make an app splitview compatible? maybe editing a plist file? Thanks for your help.
