What should I learn if I want to write a program to edit the Windows Context Menu?
I'm really new to programming, I'm mostly learning python for now. But I know that I some point I wanna start working on a personal project to improve my skills and I had this idea of making that project a "Windows context menu editor" like the program that already exist called "Easy context menu" (Is really good but still it has some flaws)... My question is this: Just because I know python doesn't mean that I would have any idea of where to start writing a program to edit the context menu of Windows. I'm really curious to know what the hell am I suppoused to study or to learn to be able to program and change parts of the Windows OS, like, how do I even start doing that? I'm pretty sure that something like batch won't even help me to change that, would it? So.... Anybody has any clue where to start doing such a thing?
(I know that some part of it is learning about the windows registry but I checked and not everything that shows up on the context menu is on the windows registry, there are aplications and stuff that make menus in the context menu of windows and yet, there's no record of them in the registry)

Can you 100% Rely on Windows sandbox for malware & viruses purposes?
As title says, such as trying out an app that you find suspicious, anything that might contain malware and harm your main Host.

Editing quick settings
Is there anyway to add a custom button to quick settings panel, via a program or registry or whatever, or is it completely hardcoded?
I want to add a VPN button there.

Got a free windows vista era laptop should I keep vista or install XP in it?
I got a Dell Inspiron 1521 for free and I'm going to wipe the drive and start fresh so I wanted to ask whether I should stick with Vista or downgrade to XP.
It's got a 1.6ghz AMD Turion with integrated graphics
It can kind of do Aero but the transparency is gone so would the system run smoother on XP?

Is there a way to rotate only one application window (e.g. VLC or Chrome) without rotating the entire screen on Windows 11
I'm using Windows 11 and I know about screen rotation (Ctrl+Alt+Arrow or iRotate), but I want to rotate just one app window (not the full desktop) β for example, rotate VLC or Chrome sideways while keeping everything else normal.
Is there any native or third-party tool to do this? Or a creative workaround?

Looking for a specific music app
Hello everyone, I'm currently looking for a music program that can play raw audio without any filtering. What I mean is that for example, if I have an audio file that's "earrape" (or has a lot of clipping), VLC for example will normalize it, and while the audio is still very loud, it will get rid of any distortion. I was looking for the exact opposite, and while I know that Windows Media Player Legacy does allow distortion, it's quite old. Also yes, I'm aware of the fact that Groove Music also works in the same way, it's just that I find UWP apps clunky as hell.
I did eventually find a workaround though. I went ahead and got MPC-BE, went into sound processing, and turned the gain up to +1.0. This gets rid of that filtering that puts a cap on distortion. The problem with this is that the gain also distorts songs that shouldn't have any clipping in the first place. Out of the other programs that I've tested (Foobar, VLC, Dopamine etc), WMP Legacy was the only one that both didn't distort normal sounding audio, but also allowed clipping.
There's also winamp, which works exactly like WMP Legacy, and also mpv as well, although that's mainly a command line program.
I was wondering if there's another music program that: has infinite looping, playlist capabilities, shows album covers on songs and plays raw audio.
Like I said, the closest I've gotten to this was WMP Legacy, although I'm looking for a portable program.

Are automatic BIOS updates unusual?
I have a fairly new windows 11 computer. Last night when I shut it down it performed a BIOS update before completing the shutdown. I don't remember that ever happening before so I'm wondering if I have anything to worry about.
