What's the pros of window that aren't there in Linux?

I'm a windows user an I'm seriously considering moving to Linux

Is there any pros that are there that aren't in Linux?

Or is there cons in Linux?

And why did you choose windows over Linux?

Should I look at it from a different angle?

if you did something like me how did it go?

Is backing up system after clean install necessary in Win11?

Greetings,

I've bought a new laptop and it came with Win11.

After installing Windows, Drivers, Office, Chrome and my account, before using further, I want to back up this clean install.

In old times we were imaging, cloning etc. But I don't know if we still need to have a back up in Win11 or not...

Can you give me a good advice about backing up? Is it still a lifesaver or not anymore?

I think Windows 11 is the best since XP

For me at least, everything just works and is super easy. I love the streamlined approach. Every menu just shows me the few things I use 90% of the time moves everything into a sub menu for the rare times I need more.

Windows on ARM vs x86

Anyone owning new Snapdragon laptops, tell me the fundamental difference between WoA and Windows x86 you have observed.

\-Don't say battery life and performace, everybody knows that.

What I want to know is:

- Have Microsoft removed manny of the uselss services running in backrgound?

- How is Bluetooth codec support? I heard SD laptops were supposed to get all the aptX codecs.
- How good has been Modern standby? Hibernation. Fans spiining when laptops was in bag and sleep; Have you faced this?
- How is the overall snappiness? I wathced some review and even in the video it was evident that the system was very snappy even on battery.

- Any negatves/ positives that you have noticed. Do share.

Question about a Fresh Install of Win10 Eliminating Malware

Long story short, I tried to get a cracked version of Photoshop. It must've infected my PC with something since shortly afterward, most of my socials were logged out.

They sent all my discord contacts a fake Steam Gift Card, for example. lol

I've changed all my email passwords and social passwords as well as bank, passwords associated with my bills and rent and such, and then I was reminded to change my Amazon password after I received emails from them alerting me to successfully processed refunds to a gift card for products I'd already received.

They'd only "refunded" a couple items before I changed everything and enabled MFA and nipped it in the bud. Then I made sure to reach out to Amazon support to alert them about it since technically they were the ones getting scammed.

I paid for Bitdefender and ran a nearly two hour scan that turned up nothing so there's that.

All in all, it's been an annoyance -- but nothing too severe thus far.

BUT........I still feel dirty. lol

======================================================

I'd like to do a fresh install of Win10 on my PC. I downloaded the media installation tool to a USB drive and then ejected it once it was done so it's ready to go.

My question is, based on what I've described, do you guys think I should completely wipe everything or do you think I can keep my files and apps? Or do I even need to do a wipe at all? Cuz atm it just feels like I'm cleaning up a mess and that I don't necessarily need to tear the building down.

Basically, how "dangerous" does this malware seem to you?

Am I supposed to be able to buy Windows 10 Extended Support yet?

Ive been reading the info that came out recently, and it tells me I'm supposed to go to Windows Update and click a thing that says to enroll, but its not there. I'm fully updated. All that's there is the usual "Check to see if your system can run Windows 11" thing. Which it cant. I established this years ago.

Is mcafee okay to delete without installing anything in its place related to security?

Sorry if this question has been asked a lot, but I just got an old laptop from 2009 that I’m freein’ up storage on. I’ve seen other posts saying Mcafee kinda sucks, so I was wondering if it’s okay to delete it if I’m not gonna replace it with something else?

The context menu in File Explorer is getting a bit long again

Granted, a number of these are added by third party software or PowerToys but the (rather controversial) contracted menu was supposed to be solving this. Also, it's an image so why are Notepad++ (code) and Notepad suggested "Edit with"?

I think a workaround could be to allow the user to customise what entries show in the contracted menu. A settings interface similar to that used in Microsoft Office for customising the ribbon could work.

Also I would like to be able to assign an Edit with Photoshop feature.

SOLVED Resolution changes when the lid is closed.

In the new 24H2 update on Windows 11, there's a new bug where when the lid is closed it reverts to the 100% scaling (if the scaling is set to a different value) and it seems like i have found the fix for it. For anyone having this problem, just go to Display and set custom scaling to your display's recommended scale and sign out (perhaps reboot as well) and voilΓ !

What less-discussed features were added to Windows 11 overtime?

There are some pretty big features that grab the spotlight or some contentious aspect of Windows that do the same. But what are some little features that you like that were added to W11 overtime?

They can even be security or privacy.

Windows 11 is way more responsive after turning off core isolation

I disabled core isolation ( memory integrity) because it was slowing down my virtual box performance ( you can't use 3d acceleration ) so I turned it off. Now windows is way more responsive , snappy .

office 2013 windows 11 error 1715-4

Was having an issue installing office 2013 on my new windows 11 laptop, received error 1715-4 when trying to install. I had already uninstalled office365 which came pre-installed. After much googling, I didn't find anything. But I figured it out. Uninstalling office365 did not uninstall onenote. So in add/remove programs, after I uninstalled OneNote, my 2013 install was able to move forward. Hopefully this helps somebody out there.
