Hacking his way to the top! 🔝
When we last spoke to Moayad Terro, he was a Master’s student in cybersecurity. Today, he’s a PhD student and a participant in Moscow’s Positive Hack Camp, where numerous specialists from several countries unite to tackle digital threats. Reflecting on his journey so far, Moayad shares:

So much has changed in the last 4-5 years. I’ve grown a lot, definitely for the better. Being at ITMO, surrounded by ambitious people, it’s almost impossible not to change the way you see the world and how you think. There’s always something new to learn, and I’ve realized the world is much bigger than I imagined five years ago. During my studies, I gained the knowledge I’d always been looking for, and I’m still learning every day. This journey has truly been the best decision I’ve ever made.

For Muhammad-Bilal Muhiuddin, moving from Pakistan to St. Petersburg wasn’t just about pursuing a Master’s in automation and control. It was about building resilience, gaining independence, and learning to thrive in a new culture while chasing his passion for technology.

It feels like I have burst out of a shell throughout this international experience. It has allowed me to come out of my comfort zone and taught me the daily life skills I need to survive. I have learned to navigate different social norms and can now collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds. It has also given me a sense of independence and the confidence to tackle challenges in both academic and personal life.
