The most cruel torture of the Middle Ages: The Judas Cradle

The main instrument of this torture was a peculiar construction consisting of a pyramid on three supports.

The victim was placed on top of the sadistic device, and heavy weights were tied to his legs and arms.

The person was slowly imposed on the tip of the "cradle" and, as a rule, in a few hours he provided the torturer with all the information he was interested in.

Nevertheless, even after the confession he had few chances for survival; in most cases the victims died of sepsis as the pyramid tip had never been cleaned of feces and blood of previous sufferers.
