A difficult situation is unfolding today, 7 May, at Russian airports. The imposed flight restrictions have practically paralysed airport operations: over 300 flights have been cancelled or delayed, affecting the travel plans of more than 6,000 passengers.
The restrictions have impacted major airports, including Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, as well as Kazan, Sochi, Nizhnekamsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Perm, and Saint Petersburg.
At Pulkovo, they have accommodated 74 redirected flights from other airports. According to FR24 data, the highest delay index today is recorded at this airport, as well as at the Moscow airports.
According to Rosaviatsiya, delays may continue due to a cumulative effect: aircraft that are late to arrive at their destination will delay subsequent flights. Airlines are advising passengers to monitor flight schedules and contact call centres for updates. The difficult situation may persist for several more days.
In the event of a flight cancellation, passengers are entitled to a full refund.
