New Stuff: Beginners Section

From today onwards I will be sure to post tips, tricks and code for beginners under the hashtag #BeginnerTime. Make sure to stay tuned.

Life Tip: When writing code for something you must immediately deploy, break sections of code into chunks and test them individually. Don't be afraid to introduce debugging functions because you can comment them out later on.

Things You Need to Web Dev

As a web developer and C/C++ person, I have decided to tell what stuff you need to start developing responsive, scalable and reliable web apps.

Tools:

Sublime Text 3

Best text editor out there. Believe me once you go Sublime you never go back 😁

Visual Studio Code

Use it as your secondary editor when you need more color and completion. Open-source and based on the Electron framework.

XAMPP

Best server out there, grab a fresh installer then use it to it's fullest potential.

Codebase:

- Make sure you have multiple major versions of Bootstrap, jQuery and all the libraries you need to use

- If you do frontend, make sure you have a large collection of web templates for reference

- Make sure to organize your PHP/NodeJS dependencies efficiently

Other Stuff
- (backend) an eye for optimised code
- will to live

Tip of The Day: When naming variables choose a name that makes sense, isn't too long and also somewhat depicts the data type of the variable. Like for example naming an integer i_age instead of just age.

Sorry for not posting often these days, I was very busy with my projects for @yenebyte. Thanks for being patient!

Challenge Of The Week time!

Write some fire code that computes all the permutations of a set of letters. For example for the input "ABCD" the program should be able to compute all the permutations such as BCDA or CDBA. Use any efficient algorithm if needed. Input must be filtered to avoid input whitespace.

GUI for the program using any C++ framework is a bonus.

Deadline: 26 October, 2019

Reward: 250MB Gift Package

Reward with GUI Bonus: 250MB Gift Package plus an extra 100MB Gift Data Package.

Submission:

Submit your code only (no executable) to @CUFeedbackBot or @KidusW under the hashtag #ChallengeOfTheWeek

When designing and interface class, make sure to include the title interface at the end of each class name to clearly distinguish between inherited and interface classes.

#LifeTip

When overloading operators in C++, make sure to overload operators that seem to complete the function intended for the overload, i.e., don't overload an operator to an inappropriate function. For example if you overload the '==' operator, it should be to compare between two objects of the same class, and if you overload the '=' operator it should be to assign a value to an object of a certain class. The std::string class is a prime example of this. Oh yeah and by the way, you can't overload the 'this' operator.
