One thing almost never shown in movies of ole' is the Viking and Franciscan/Francisca Axes being thrown, sometimes even in volleys, at short range, allowing their burst-charge at the last moment to hit with even more surprise as enemies are raising shields and yet finding even if the axes are a whee bit short, bounce they may still-yet hit knees, legs, and feet for injury. These aren't designed for woodcutting at all if made only for throwing-damage, but Viking axe would double for wood-cutting typically, vs Francisca styling, shown, which is only for damage;
